Thank you for sharing every thought, every emotion and every pain, every faith all in the short time you spoke to my class... we can’t do much about the past, but we can look towards a better future.
— 8th Grade Student

These words clearly demonstrate why we are committed to Remembering the Events of the Holocaust. This student is one of 1000’s who will be forever changed after meeting Dr. Sol Messinger, a witness to the Holocaust and member our Speakers Bureau.  The HRCOB needs your help to financially support the many educational programs, like the Speakers Bureau and New Generation Initiative. Your dollars fund over 50% of our annual budget including these impactful programs:

  • Coordinating Holocaust Survivors to visit over 5500 people annually at public schools and organizations throughout WNY and parts of Pennsylvania.
  • Yom HaShoah Commemoration in Erie PA and over 1000 college students at Keuka College.
  • Lawyers without Rights Jews under the Third Reich exhibit at Buffalo and Erie Public Library. A special program for 300 Williamsville North HS students was a highlight.
  • Three hundred people screened Heather Connell’s documentary, "Forget Us Not” in commemoration of U.N. International Holocaust Remembrance Day Jan 27, 2016 County Executive Mark Poloncarz introduced the film and Heather.
  • New Generation Initiative Programs
    • Teachers Conference: Stereotyping from Nazi Germany to Your Classroom
    • Jewish Educator Holocaust Training Workshop
    • Catholic Educator Holocaust Training Workshop
    • Professional Conference - Medical Ethics after Holocaust
    • Creation of Buffalo 10 Holocaust Survivor documentaries for classroom teaching
    • US Holocaust Memorial Museum traveling exhibit will be in our area May
    • Arts and Writing Contest on same theme of Teacher Conference of Stereotyping

With your support HRCOB can exceed programming expectations. Your gift will tell the stories of the victims and the survivors and teach the lessons of the Holocaust to present and future generations, so we all will be Upstanders, instead of Bystanders.  Teach the Lessons. Remember the Events and Honor the Survivors of the Holocaust.
